Ashleigh Mack. If you’ve had the pleasure of being in her company in the last year, you know how strong and resilient she is. You also know how much love she has for her family.

When her son was diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia last year at 4 months old, I remember how terrified both her and her husband were. They gave everything in their fight for their son. I couldn’t be more proud of Ashleigh for campaigning for LLS’ Woman of the Year in Iowa City. This is a wonderful way to preserve Lincoln’s memory and help fight for cures for cancers like the one that took his life.

She absolutely deserved getting her hair done (by Lavish) and her makeup (by Cult Beauty by Liv) and a headshot session done in the studio to help kick off her 10 week campaign!

Chad + Kristen || Surprise Proposal | Iowa City Wedding Photographer

I was contacted by Chad to help plan his surprise proposal for Kristen in Iowa City which, as a wedding photographer, is probably one of my favorite things in the WORLD to do! We met once beforehand to scope out the location and he, along with a team of friends, pulled off this awesome surprise! It was a beautiful fall day and he had a vision of proposing surrounded by freshly fallen leaves. I’m so thrilled the day turned out so beautifully for them. AND SHE SAID YES!! 🙂

Jen and Einstein || Sunset Puppy Session | Iowa City Family Photographer

I can’t begin to explain how much it means to me to have another photographer (and friend) ask you to take photos for her, especially when they’re to document the love she has for her best friend.

Jen and Einstein spent many years together and he was the love of her life. (All you pet owners KNOW what I’m talking about – THEY ARE FAMILY!)

This sunset and wildflowers session with her and her sweet puppy were the last professional photos she has with him. I know her heart aches now that he’s gone, but there’s no doubt he’s running around barking at everything in that cute, raspy bark of his up in doggy heaven and getting all the warm snuggles he needs.

Mylah and Tenley are best friends and aspiring models who are full of spunk and sass! They remind me of my sweet daughter when she was that age (and how I wish I was a photographer back then). These ruffles and fur outfits and masks were adorable!!

These two are one of my favorite couples. We ventured around downtown Park City, Utah for Raichel + Keaton’s engagement session. Not only are they absolutely adorable together (and their style is AMAZING!), they were SO much fun to work with!!!

Kelly + Peter Engagement || Des Moines Waterbury Neighborhood & Gray’s Lake | Iowa City Wedding Photographer

It’s the best feeling in the world when someone finds you by word-of-mouth from a mutual friend.
Kelly and Peter invited me to his childhood home in the Waterbury neighborhood of Des Moines to take their engagement photos. I love when couples choose such a sentimental location to celebrate their love, and this natural light filled home is full of history. Afterwards, we headed over to Gray’s Lake and braved the cold with a few photos on the bridge. His family paid tribute to his mother with a plaque there, and we were able to tie that into their session. It was wonderful working with you two!!

I think the only thing I would have done different on my wedding day is to forego the tradition of my husband and I sleeping apart the night before.
