Breyton is a high school senior at West High in Iowa City. It’s so fun to photograph senior guys – the locations are different, the poses are different, and the moms come along to give them a hard time. (That’ll be me!) This guy helped his football team get to state and it was a blast taking my family to watch the action!

As if my job couldn’t be any more amazing, my friend from Japan flew in from the East coast just for a headshot session with me. Amy is embarking on an exciting new business venture, Sex Talk 101, and I’m so excited she trusted me to photograph her for her websites, book series, and marketing for both audio books and podcasts! Having someone who enjoys my work that much is an honor!! I’m even more excited to say a few boudoir session’s I’ve photographed will be used by her business as well.
She was dolled up by Cult Beauty by Liv and Lavish before we went into the studio. Being a wedding photographer is awesome, but providing an experience like this to women is one of my favorite things to do. It also helps that Amy is just as beautiful as her personality is badass!!!

I still get super excited *and nervous* every time another professional photographer books a session with me. Luckily, Lindsay is super sweet and she totally made my job easy (I mean, she’s super gorgeous!!). Her reason for getting these photos done is one that I wish every parent thinks about – to have beautiful photos of herself for her family and children – plus a few gorgeous headshots for her business! Studio lifestyle headshots are the perfect gift if you aren’t wanting boudoir photos done, but you want beautiful photos of yourself. Being a wedding photographer is where my heart is, but these sessions are becoming a huge favorite of mine!

The first time I met Erin + Ben, the vision they had for their engagement sessions were amazing. They flew me and Liv, with Cult Beauty by Liv, up to their family’s cabin in northern Minnesota in December for a few days where we were spoiled rotten with food, wine, and doing what we love!
What I love about this engagement session is the thoughtfulness Erin + Ben put into it. Using their cabin, some hidden heirlooms (like “Only a Farm Boy” – Ben is a farmer), and a well thought out wardrobe made the entire session come together so perfectly. If you’ve seen my posts the last few months, one of my best friends, and owner of Cult Beauty by Liv, was expecting. 🙂 (You can see her maternity session HERE.)
I’m SO excited to show of this beautiful baby girl!! Meet Azara Skye. I couldn’t think of a more perfect name for her – and just look at how adorable this family is. Seeing her and her big brother together absolutely makes my heart melt. I was so happy to have them in the studio for a relaxed little lifestyle session.

My daughter and I have always had a blast taking photos together since the day I picked up a camera – even when we lived overseas and I had a point-and-shoot (the photos may not have been professional, but I will cherish them forever). She’s growing up way too fast and she amazes me every single day. From being a high school freshman in AP classes, going out for a sport every trimester, making show choir and singing solos on Hancher Auditorium’s stage, and getting really great grades, to being a super sweet person and surrounding herself with awesome kids. I thank my lucky stars she is just the way she is. I’m sad to think she’ll be a senior before I know it.
She wanted to steal a few of my new dresses, put on some pretty makeup (she is an awesome self-taught makeup artist) and play in the studio! I’m so glad we did; I’ll definitely be printing a few of these!

I had such a blast with this beauty! Reece, her moms, dad, and I roamed around the Newbo Market area in Cedar Rapids taking her senior photos. My FAVORITE location after that was at a cute creek nearby – anything near (or in!) water and I’m in heaven. And we were wading in thigh-deep water!
Her style is adorable and effortless! She’s graduating from Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School this year – I’m so excited to see where life takes her!!

My friends have the cutest, smiliest babies. (Yes, smiliest is a made up word – I even Googled it.) Baby Bristol came to model for a studio session and we had a blast! One of these days we will get the whole family together! She’s grown up so much since her last session with her mama. (See that HERE.)
