Erin + Ben Take 2 || Lifestyle Couple’s Session | Iowa City Wedding Photographer

The first time I met Erin + Ben, the vision they had for their engagement sessions were amazing. They flew me and Liv, with Cult Beauty by Liv, up to their family’s cabin in northern Minnesota in December for a few days where we were spoiled rotten with food, wine, and doing what we love!
What I love about this engagement session is the thoughtfulness Erin + Ben put into it. Using their cabin, some hidden heirlooms (like “Only a Farm Boy” – Ben is a farmer), and a well thought out wardrobe made the entire session come together so perfectly. I encourage every bride and groom to stay true to who they are and make their engagement sessions as intimate and unique as this one! Hammock + Sunshine | Boudoir Photography Studio | Iowa City Wedding Photographer

Waking up today to sunshine pouring into the studio makes me so happy!! It reminds me of one of my most fun outdoor boudoir sessions – a hammock, and sunshine are all we needed to make magic! Winter is a huge advocate for body positivity and even teaches classes on it! It may be too early to say this, but I can’t WAIT for warmer weather to get back outside to take photos like this. Marrying the outdoors and boudoir is probably one of my favorite things as a photographer.

Boudoir is about body confidence and showing off your feminine and sexy side (whether you think you’ve got it or not). There is a fine line between trashy boudoir and tasteful boudoir. I wholeheartedly believe there are very few women who believe holding props or wearing fishnet tights and stilettos makes them any sexier than being barefoot and nearly naked. We discuss this when we meet for your session, so don’t be afraid to tell me what you want – and I promise you I will create some of the most beautiful images of yourself that you’ve ever seen.

We had WAY too much fun in Amsterdam shooting Aliah’s in-home boudoir session. This walkup apartment is stunning and I wish I could go back! I definitely felt the moodiness of the light and edited a little bit darker than I normally do, but I’m obsessed. I love when clients want to use their own homes to help customize their boudoir session. I am also a huge fan of going more natural for photos. Aliah did her own hair and makeup for this! Her wardrobe was purchased in Ireland and Amsterdam and is available to use in my studio!

HELLOOOOO HOTTIE! I can’t believe I have photographed Candice in two European countries now – France and Ireland! This session was shot in our Irish mansion and outdoors. She is so stunning and sweet which made it even more fun! I’m obsessed with this look and love that the Hunter boots were added! I can’t wait to photograph her again in a far off destination – where will we go next??

Opportunities like this don’t happen very often. Being able to photograph an outdoor boudoir session instead of in the studio AND for the weather to be as perfect as it was – a great example of the planets and stars aligning to make magic. Sarah is, without a doubt, one of the sweetest and most beautiful souls I’ve ever photographed. (And I secretly died inside when I saw her hair *by Lavish* and fabulous tattoos!)

Andraea part 1 | Outdoor Auto Shop Session | Iowa City Boudoir Photographer

I was on my way to the Bare Boudoir Retreat and saw this amazing old school auto shop on the road and I immediately knew I had to shoot there. Then a few hours later I met Andraea. You know those times when you meet someone and you feel like you’ve known them forever and you want to give them a huge hug? That was me when I met her. We went out at 6am and got some amazing shots. When shooting an outdoor session, I definitely love the shade, and freaked out a little when the whole place was covered in direct sunlight – but I went for it and am in love with the contrast!!

Andraea’s story is incredible, and is a huge reason I love being a boudoir photographer:
I won’t lie, when Steph said I should do a boudoir session with her I was shocked. I am this girl who is so shy until you get to know me, and hides behind her glasses, they’re my shield. Haha! What girl doesn’t want to “feel pretty.” I am one of those people who pick myself apart. I know, I know, I shouldn’t but it’s a bad habit I am trying to break. I was abused all of my childhood. Physically, mentally, emotionally, and sexually. From the age of 3-14 when I finally stood up for myself. I remind myself that they’re things that happened to me, not who I am! Taking these pictures was almost like a breakthrough for me, a new beginning. This is me now! When I seen the first picture I was shocked that it WAS me! Holy crap! Bombshell! Truly felt amazing & Steph is amazing at what she does, seriously!! I felt so comfortable and relaxed and loved every minute of it! Truly an amazing feeling of excitement!
